Weekend Pondering
You may have all the acronyms after your name like PhD, CPA or MD
You may have graduated from an Ivy League university
You may have the flashiest cars like BMW, Ferrari or Mercedes
You may have earned the respect of other people
You may be friends with the who’s who
You may be working for a Forbes 500 company
You may have the most spectacular house you can ever build
You may have the biggest bank account
You may have the latest fashion and designers clothes
You may have the current techies available
You may have everything in the world…
And yet when you are stripped from all of these, you’re just YOU
Simple and plain YOU.
Time will come that your existence will also cease
…would all these still matter?
***drawn summer of 2003
nice thought. i think i wanna have all of those first, before i answer the question. i'm still the simple and plain me. :)
you know what, there was a point in my life that i actually thought of that. if i will stripped off of everything i have, will what remains be substantial? i was saddened when i learned the answer.
"from dust you came, and from dust you return".. or something like that.
from the bible there is also a verse that went like this - for what could a man gain when he looses his soul? it's not all about money and riches..
To "you" everything ends with that last breath, but to the Imees, the juniors, the IIIs and the IVs, "you" are the greatest person ever to live and die since they are enjoying what you left behind without lifting a finger. (only for the PIN or signing the checks. Otherwise, in the end we are all equal after all.
Nice post. Did you draw that?
nice drawing Jef, love it!
happy weekend
Thanks for the link Jef. As atticus states, poor people have no choice but to accept who they are and ponder the happiness of those who are well off. Many feel they are the sum of their posessions, and with the loss of the posessions, they too are lost. Me, I want self actualization and STUFF.
tama ka! what only matter is our own self naman db??
anyways, nice drawing! kaw ng draw ??
Atticus: Ditto! Thanks for leaving a note by the way. I appreciate it a lot.
Ymir: I'm at that point now bro and yeah! when all is stripped, nothing left but the REAL us.
Bingskee: I love that bible verse. Indeed, a man may gain the whole world but if he looses his soul for material pursuit, everything is eternally lost.
Sir Vic: Haha! I think I know that person you were talkin' about. May God rest his soul!
Hanni: Yes! Gurl, when we die, we cannot carry these things with us. You said it right.
Roxanne: Yes! I did that back in the summer of 2003. It's the rough sketch though.
Jairam: Thanks! Happy weekend as well!
Doc: Me too, Doc! I want to self actualized and have that stuff as well. But of course, in getting there, I hope I will not sell out my basic integrity and my intrinsic value.
Dawnie: Thanks Dawnie! Yep, ako nga. Have a great weekend!
"in this life there is no really guarantee"
that's true everything comes in full circle they come and go... tnx bro for dropping by..
hi jef, i believe in life there is no guarantee but whatever happens in the end, it is always better to know that you made perfectly well with your life... it's not what you achieved but it's what you thought and did that made you achieve them that made better sense... and in life it's about struggling to pursue life that we wanted to have... it doesn't really matter you succeeded or failed or your life mattered to everyone as long as you made a choice whether it be stripped from you or not in the end... at least in the end when we face God, we have the answer of what have we made to a life He gave us... napahaba yata, mentally provoking post mo kasi... hehe
Very nice thought. And very true too. Makes me wonder, what makes me... ME... thanks for sharing :)
what's the essence of my existence?
Ice: Thanks Ice. You are right, everything come and go.
Gbert: Woah! very well said. You nailed it! It's about making the best out of our lives and living out the purpose from which God mapped our life to be.
SQ: What makes 'YOU' a fruity hehe! Kiddin. That question will only be answered should we come in the presence of our Creator.
Jin: Hmmm! Einstein questioned that also?
Deep thoughts = Headache. :-D
Very very very nice post.
You draw, too! Great! Welcome to the club for the nth time!
i like the picture!
artistic tlga. and ang galing din magsulat. i guess when everything is stripped away, i would still be okay. coz i still have God in me :)
